The Telford Dukes Scooter Club held their annual club fund raiser on July 9th. ‘The Beat Goes Bang’ took place outside the club’s regular base, The Duke Of Your pub, in Oakengates Telford.
Scooters lined the length of Market Street and live music was played from the temporary stage. Bands playing included Salopia and The Fabulous Bordellos, but the biggest musical draw was probably the musicians from The Beat and Dexy’s Midnight Runners.
Ian Barton, a member of the Dukes and the man responsible for their events and merchandise, said the day had been very successful.
He continued: “The weather was good, we had loads of people visit, the music was fantastic and in all we managed to raise around £3000. Throughout the year we hold various events to raise money for charity, but this event is all about raising money for the club.”
The Dukes have a Quadrophenia Night scheduled for November 11th, when the film will be screened at The Oakengates Theatre in Telford. There will also be a live band and DJ on that night.
