Automatics For The People

For years the large-capacity retro-styled scooter market has been dominated by the  Vespa GTS, its engine growing from 200, through 250 and onto 300 – even if that 300 is actually 278cc. The big Vespa has become the scooter of choice for those who appreciate a stylistic nod to the past and has also sold well to rally goers who appreciate it’s reliability, cruising speed, … Continue reading Automatics For The People

TWIST & SHOUT: My first 40 miles on a Vespa PX

I have ridden scooters before, having passed my test on a Honda NH80 Lead and had several rides on Vespa’s GTS model over the years. But I’d never ridden a geared 2-stroke scooter until yesterday. I had bought a Vespa PX150 without knowing if I would actually enjoy riding it. Madness? Some will say yes. A test-ride would have been the sensible thing, but I … Continue reading TWIST & SHOUT: My first 40 miles on a Vespa PX

Event – Unicorn Inn Scooter Bash 11th – 12th August

A great scooter event was held last weekend in Hampton Loade, which is a few miles outside of Bridgnorth. The site was close to the Unicorn Inn and sits on the banks of the River Severn, sandwiched between the water and the Severn Valley train line. This meant the afternoon was regularly punctuated by the glorious sound of steam engines as they passed by. With … Continue reading Event – Unicorn Inn Scooter Bash 11th – 12th August

Scooters lined the length of Market Street and live music was played from the temporary stage. Bands playing included Salopia and The Fabulous Bordellos, but the biggest musical draw was probably … Continue reading Event- Beat Goes Bang, July 9th

Event – Three Spires SC Summer Gathering – June 25th

The Three Spires Scooter Club held a ‘Summer Gathering’ at Lichfield Rugby Club. I went along and managed to get some good images, even though the weather was disappointing. With a camera in your hand you wonder what people’s reaction will be when they see you pointing your lens at them – but at the scooter events I have been to everyone seems okay about … Continue reading Event – Three Spires SC Summer Gathering – June 25th

Event – Fort Perch Rock, June 18th

I only read about this event a few days before it happened, but the weather was gorgeous and promised to last through the weekend – so a trip to New Brighton seemed a very good way to spend my Saturday. Organsied by Cloud 9 Birkenhead Scooter Club, scooterists were invited to meet at Fort perch Rock, on the sea-front at new Brighton. That was a … Continue reading Event – Fort Perch Rock, June 18th
